My favorite site is ultimatearcade.com. The reason why I like this website is because there is a lot of interesting games to play. This website has a wide variety of games ranging from action/adventure, puzzle, sport, and word games. The web games get addicting, but they are really fun. What I found interesting about this website is the attractiveness that it brings to the audience. There are different colors and the site gives off a fun feeling to the viewer. I think that this site is both art and commercial because it is trying to make money through advertising yet has a lot of unique games of art.
My favorite website (other than one that sells something) would have to be dancesisterdance.com. I like this website because you can create a family or friends face on a body and change their hair and clothes. Then they come out of the elevator door dancing to a ridiculous song. It is written by the sissorsisters who are actually the band of the song that is played while the figures dance. All of the imagry in the sit is very realistic, from the hair and the clothes, to even the sound effects of the elevator opening. Since images are being created on this site, it is very artsy. The color scheme is very appealing which make you want to continue to make more and more dancing friends. It is a fun site to experiment with, and the Sissorsisters are able to get publicity when people go to the site.
My favorite site would have to be newgrounds.com. It is an interesting site dedicated to the masses sharing their own talents; whether it be animation or music composition. I would say this site more revolves around art and artists' works, though there are some links that try to get you to donate or buy stuff. The color choice for the main background reminds me sort of a construction site, which fits perfectly since this is a site which promotes what 'artists' have pieced together. The layout is pretty user-friendly in that nothing is too complicated to find. While the dark background and color quality give it a professional feel, the more cartoonish logo and pictures keep the tone very light and friendly. 11033117
My favorite website that I found was fmylife.com because if you just need a good laugh, people from all over the world can leave there short stories of ridiculous or sucky things that happen to them. There usually just a couple sentences about something that happened to them that day and anyone can read them for a good laugh. Sometimes when something stupid happens I want to tell me because its so funny, this is an easy place to let that happen. Its just a good stress reliever
WordCount.org is a website created as an “artistic experiment in the way we use language.” Word count produces a horizontal barometer of 86,800 English words ranked by their commonness. The data was created through a survey of a collection of 100 million words from a wide range of sources. According to the website, WordCount was “designed with a minimalist aesthetic, to let the information speak for itself.” Not only can one scroll through the visual barometer of words, they can also jump through the list by searching for word or rank. “The goal is for the user to feel embedded in the language, sifting through words like an archeologist through sand, awaiting the unexpected find” says the website. The website also notes that closely ranked words will ignite the viewer’s imagination as they sort through the list. For example, “God, Began, Start, [and] War” are all within a few words of each other on the list. As well as “America ensure oil opportunity.”
I like Augor's site because his art work is amazing. The website is set up very well and is visually stimulating. He uses an array of wild colors and effects. I think he made the website to display his work and show how he challenges the status quo through his art. He does a lot of billboard pieces because if he has to drive by them everyday he'd rather see art than commercial advertisements. He is a real creative and innovative thinker and that is shown in his art and through his website.
The website I chose for this assignment is called orisinal.com. It is a website that provides several games to whomever visits the website. I like this website because it is different from a lot of other game websites that I have seen. It involves much more creativity and thought. My favorite part of the website is very relaxing instrumental music that plays while you are playing the game. There is a lot of color used in this website. Mostly soft pastel colors or bright colors. It gives the website a relaxing cartoon feel that is unusual for how games are usually presented. The website was written by Ferry Halim. He wrote the website mainly because he makes flash games for a living. I would consider this website art because the games are so creatively designed. There is not much commercial advertising involved.
The site I liked the most from the Thames and Hudson's list was Stelarc. My favorite part was the website told you exactly what to do to have the best experience on it. I also at first it was something to do with Borg (Star Trek). It ended up being cyborgs and zombies. The site is based in Australia. I thought that the art work was going being in the source at first because of the background pattern. It was just code. 10724688 It was interesting to from a site that deals with a exploring bodies. The links on the page to different parts of the site was also interesting in that It gives lists of what you should consider.
Bittbox, is the the site of knowledge. The knowledge that can help you get a job. The kind of job that has eluded you for the last 300 hundred years. That job, ruling the world. Now that would be nice if only Photoshoping skills could help you control your future minions.
Bittbox is a site that will help you learn and advance your skills with Photoshop. It was created so that people would have a resource and is a place to talk with other like minded individuals on the web. The design is straight forward helping the viewer navigate the web site. This web sight is a little social and a little arty.
I like the moving sky in this websites main page. It adds depth without one image. I also like the media player added at the bottom. This is also my favorite band which probably helps
I love this site for the simple, peaceful music that cascades throughout the whole intro. There is the added bonus of having a puzzle that needs solving, but it is so freeform that even though you have to follow a conformed path to solve it, it doesn't feel constrained.
It has a simple animated format but allows for a graceful presentation. Though there is an inherent connection to a band, there is no forcing of a product or a sale. I can't find the information of who created it.
I like this website because It is fun and interactive. It has several different games that are fun. The game have a different theme and sound to them. This looks like it was designed for a class or a Digital Narratives. this is a site that dose not make money it is art.
I really like this site because its a network of local BMW enthusiasts. It's become a strong site and I've learned a lot about cars and body work. The events calendar it has are really helpful and fun. It also has a forum in which people can post anything from car information to the latest scandals on the news. There is also cool videos of racing and such. I really like the logo and main banner used for the site. I like the website layout because of its simplicity. The pictures are also good quality and are neat photos. The colors all match well and it holds a good theme throughout it. The person who created it is an enthusiast himself and has put a lot of dedication into getting it to its current status. He founded the site to connect other enthusiasts in a specific area. So far its been cool to meet other people with the same interest and unique cars
One of my favorite websites is called FMyLife.com, basically it is a site where people leave comments or stories of an incident that has happened in there life that is embarrassing, and it with the saying, "F my life." Here is an example from the site: "Today, my friend and I were filming football practice and talking about what guys on the team were attractive and who we would want to have sex with. We didn't realize that the camera was recording everything that we said. The tape was played to the entire team the next day. With sound. FML." I like this site because its stories that are humorous, entertaining and always makes me say, "that would suck." It doesn't say who wrote it or why they wrote it, but I don't see it being a form of art, or even the site trying to sell something, although there are some advertisements on the page.
The site I chose and liked the most was “They Rule.” This site is basically the biggest companies that rule the world and the people or directors that have there hand in them. You are able to choose any of the big companies and it brings forward a conference table. When you click on the table the directors of that company pop up. And you are then able to interact with them and click to see other companies, if any, they also have there hands in. The design of the site is simple. It has a upper left hand corner text box with 12 simple words to help you navigate. It’s easy to follow and interact with. It was made by a guy named Josh On. It was back in 2004. This was a quote from the website describing why he did this.
“Karl Marx once called this ruling class a 'band of hostile brothers.' They stand against each other in the competitve struggle for the continued accumulation of their capital, but they stand together as a family supporting their interests in perpetuating the profit system as whole. Protecting this system can require the cover of a 'legitimate' force - and this is the role that is played by the state. An understanding of this system can not be gleaned from looking at the inter-personal relations of this class alone, but rather how they stand in relation to other classes in society. Hopefully They Rule will raise larger questions about the structure of our society and in whose benefit it is run.”
I think this has a commercial feel to it but it is an art form of its own kind. Using the big wigs in this world and showing visually how few people are controlling so much of the world. I love it. I am going to share this with a lot of people. I hope they can update it to 2009. I would like to see how things are changing now that the economy it’s doing so great.
My favorite site is wikipedia.com. The reason why I like this website is because I can find everything about anything. The design is pretty simple, they don't use much different color, I think, in order to showcase more of its information rather than the design or the interesting looking games or pictures on it. The main color of this site is white and pinkish kind of gray. This website is written by numerous amount of random professional people that have enough knowledge about the information that they wrote. Many of the writer are even connected with the things that they wrote, for example, people who write about a celebrity can be just that celebrity's marketing rep. They write this information simply as just a marketing tool to promote about things that they write, they don't get paid for writing in wikipedia, but they kind of make money because this stuff provide information about a things that can eventually energize people who interested in those stuff.
My favorite website is gaiaonline, com. Technically it is a social networking site, but you can play games, enter contests, create an avatar, build an aquarium, build a car, etc. It is a fun filled, colorful, exciting site that is fun and easy to use.
Reposting mine becauser you can't edit an anonymous post.
My favorite website is gaiaonline.com. I like this website because it is fun and interesting. You can play games, buy stuff, essentially it is like an online social networking site/roleplay. You can also chat about just about anything you want. Meaning is mostly conveyed through color and organization. Although the pages are crowded, they are set up to be geared towards helping you interact with the community. The site's use of vivid and varied colors shows that the site is meant to be fun and exciting, and is not business oriented. This site was created by Gaia Interactive Inc. and the site was created to be afun, exciting, online social networking site. It is not geared towards making money, although they do have several ways of doing so, including selling gaia merchandise.
I found this informative and interesting blog, so I think so it’s very useful and knowledgeable. I would like to thank you for the efforts you have made in writing this article. I am hoping the same best work from you in the future as well. In fact your creative writing abilities has inspired me. I really thought that blog is spreading its wings rapidly... Digital media
